Growing chrysanthemums is really rewarding, but getting your hands on quality stock can be a problem. Some people can source cuttings from friends or club mates, but not everyone who grows mums has the same access.

If that’s you, you’ll probably rely on specialist suppliers of high-quality chrysanthemums, and they can be hard to find. So we’ve done the work for you: below are specialist growers in Australia first, then New Zealand, the UK and the US.

We started with recommendations from members of local clubs and associations, then researched further to check which suppliers had a track record of happy customers. We re-checked every business on this list in October 2026 and removed any we couldn’t confirm were still trading.

Buying Chrysanthemums in Australia: Quick Tips

  • Cuttings or plants? Rooted cuttings are cheaper and give you the widest choice of varieties. Potted plants are quicker to show colour.

  • Timing. Specialist growers usually sell cuttings in late winter and spring (August to November), so they can flower in autumn.

  • Flowering. Chrysanthemums flower naturally in autumn here (March to May), which is why they’re the traditional Mother’s Day flower.

  • Quarantine. Some growers can’t send plants to every state, especially WA, Tasmania and the NT, so check before you order.
